Ascension Golf Carts began in 2002 as a small family operation in the garage of its owner's home in Ascension Parish, which is where the business got its name. It opened its first storefront on Airline Highway in Gonzales in 2004. In January 2007 it moved into a newly built location on Highway 44, known locally as "Burnside." The company expanded into Baton Rouge in October 2016, and in January 2018 it settled full-time into a superstore location there. It has since grown into the largest golf cart dealership in Louisiana. It still keeps its original name as a tribute to the hometown that shaped it.

An authorized E-Z-GO dealer since 2004, the full-service dealership sells new and used carts in both gas and electric versions. Options range from standard models to fully customized builds with custom paint, rear seat kits, lift kits, custom wheels, stereo systems, lighting, and windshields. Customers can browse a showroom stocked with carts and accessories, and friendly sales staff help match them with the right vehicle.

The team focuses on customer satisfaction well beyond the sale. It offers a fully stocked parts department, a fully equipped service department with certified technicians, and pick-up and delivery for purchases, service, and rentals. Through AGC Rentals, customers can rent 2, 4, or 6 passenger carts, gas or electric, for a day, a weekend, or longer.
